Empowering Young Voices Through Compassionate Mentorship and Honest Dialogue
I was once a young woman who never received the guidance I desperately wanted—silently putting others first. My lack of self-esteem and confidence deterred me from using my voice.
Today, I walk a different path.
I see that young woman in so many people, especially young people, who allow others to undermine their ability to express themselves and showcase their potential.
Why, you may ask? Because I was once one of them. I compared myself to those I thought had it all—yet looking back, they had nothing that inspired me. I mean nothing!
Constantly thinking of money, accumulating stuff—and for what?
Still complaining, still comparing, with no inner happiness.
Very sad. 🙁
My perspective has shifted. My glasses have been replaced with my own expectations, introducing me to an entirely unique yet beautiful world where I can relate by sharing my love for others. More importantly, I’m happy doing what I love to do!
Finding joy and fulfillment by doing what I love!
It took a long and difficult journey to discover my passion for life. Smiling, laughing, and being unapologetically ME!
They say as you get older, you become wiser. I’d rephrase that: “The skin becomes weathered, and you suddenly awaken—developing a stronger sense of self-belief and peace.”
You begin to stop caring what others think or say. Pretty refreshing, really. 🙂
But on another note, especially to our older generation—we need to be more mindful of how we treat young people. Frankly, we won’t be around for too much longer—it’s a God-given fact! So ask yourself this: “What wisdom have I contributed to their lives?”
If we hold any position of leadership—whether in the workplace, community, or at home—it’s our responsibility and duty to create belief in young people, showing them they can achieve whatever they desire. We must listen attentively to their voices and ideas, respecting and applauding their courage to keep going.
Now that’s true leadership!
It’s not the plaque, the degree, or the title we flaunt in conversations that matters. True leadership is how we communicate with empathy, teaching with heart and soul.
Envision this: they’ll remember your words and how those words propelled them through this world. 🌎
Now we’re talking. I mean, really communicating.
Let’s remind ourselves—we were once young too, frightened of the unknown called life.
Each day, we have the opportunity to make a major contribution to the mental health of our youth by practicing these principles.I know because I live it and teach it every day. They seek guidance from our experiences—what it takes to navigate life’s many stages and overcome obstacles to achieve their goals and aspirations.
“The eyes never lie. Next time you talk to them, really look—what are they telling you?”
Be humble. Be kind. Never believe you’ve fully arrived—because life has a way of reminding each of us of our own past.
Take a moment. Sow seeds of greatness within your life for the betterment of humanity.
I clearly remember the heartbreaking responses from students about their experiences with leadership. My soul cried because so many of us older folks have forgotten:
We have stumbled. Failed. Been broken. Felt scared.
My message to future generations:
Stand up for yourselves in all areas of life!
Seek guidance from people who truly cherish your well-being—not those chasing money or material things, but those who offer pearls of wisdom from the heart of great leadership.
Walk proud and never underestimate your God-given gifts.
Pray daily for guidance from God. Don’t wait until you’re older and bitter. Start now. Speak positive, loving words when introducing yourself. Always. ❤️
We are all here to support one another in every aspect of life. If you choose not to, then step aside and let the stars shine in their own existence!
Listen. Learn. Apply.
I’m not in a race—I’m on a beautiful journey.
